Gas Chromatography

(G C)

This is one of the oldest chromatographic methods. Its application in herbal medicine/pharmacognosy studies is mainly for analysis of volatile small molecular weight compounds. the various   derivatization methods  to make compounds  suitable for GC analysis and GC applications are covered in our lecture series. The combination of GC chromatography with mass spectroscopy as a hyphenated method is also shown in  another page by using Lemon Gras oil as an example.

Keep an eye on this page -  I will be adding several examples of GC-based analysis.
